Work From Home Must Have Items!

To be honest, I haven’t had the easiest time working from home. I miss getting up, getting ready for the day, heading out the door and sitting in front of people. At first I thought working from home would free up a lot of my time, which it has, but I have learned I thrive off go-go-go. It helps motivate me to keep going. Now with slowing things down I have struggled a little bit. While I haven’t loved working from home, I have found a really good setup at home that helps!

Since the majority of you have been working from home for a while now, most people have items that they can’t live without. Something that was really missing when everyone started working from home was a list of items that made a huge difference. While it’s been almost a year I figured it would be better late than never to share {must have} items to work from home!

I asked on you on Instagram stories what your favorite items were for working from home and you responded! Since there isn’t many resources out there on items to have at home for working from home, I thought I would round up your favorite items and share them with everyone! Below are the top items mentioned and links to them so you can quickly shop.

At the bottom of this post are screenshots of some of the responses I received. Hopefully this is helpful for you to see what others use to work from home!

WORK FROM HOME MUST HAVE ITEMS:

  1. Standing Desk: This was the top item mentioned by most people! When I was working in the office this was one of my favorite features as it got you up and out of your chair. I HIGHLY recommend investing in one if you haven’t already!
  2. Second Monitor: This is a must for me! I ordered one {right} when I switched to working from home. It’s a game changer for your working from home experience. You will find that your neck hurts less because you aren’t hunching over a small laptop screen. The one linked is the monitor I got and it’s the perfect size.
  3. AirPods: I was surprised to see AirPods mentioned so many times because I don’t really use mine that often. But people mentioned it’s helpful to be handsfree when your on a call with kids around or when you are trying to type/write something on the go. Someone also mentioned noise cancelling headphones!
  4. Blue Light Glasses: Since most of us stare at screens all day long, having a pair of blue light sunglasses helps to stop headaches. I personally have a couple pairs that I keep laying in my desk.
  5. Space Heater: I found this one to be really funny because I have to have a blanket on me at all times. Never thought about actually just getting a space heater instead! Found this one at Target for relatively cheap and would be great for putting under your desk.
  6. Cell Phone Stand: I have had a cell phone stand for a while now and glad to see others think it is useful to use as well! If you have a small desk, it helps keep things organized and you can see all the messages/calls coming in easily while working.
  7. Folding Table: A number of you mentioned that you had bought a folding table to put in your apartment! I love this alternative for those that don’t have space for a desk. You can prop it up during the week while working and fold it down during the weekend to make some extra space. This is the table suggested.
  8. Mug Warmer: Cold coffee no more! I am a slow coffee drinker which means it takes me a minute to get through a full cup of coffee. That mixed with talking on conference calls leads to a cold cup of coffee. This mug warmer is an amazing idea for those that struggle with the same scenario.
  9. Office Chair: If you are going to sit all day then you need a good chair! I was surprised that this wasn’t a big response. For me having a comfy supportive chair is key! I did some research and this chair linked seemed to be the best chair for a relatively low price. It’s still a little bit more than what I would love to spend but if it’s something used every single day then I think it’s worth the investment.
  10. UGG Slippers: At the beginning of working from home I did buy a number of UGG slippers and I was happy to see others did too! If no one is going to see your feet then why be uncomfy?? These ones are great for having at your desk to keep your toes warm:)

Thank you. This was very helpful. I have been looking for a second monitor, and I really like the look of the cell phone stand and mug warmer options featured in the post.
