Technology For Blogging

Hey Y’all! Happy Monday. I have been getting more and more questions about blogging lately so I thought I would start doing some blog posts about what goes on behind the scenes. Not many bloggers talk about it because it is just part of the job but as someone who wants to start their own business you have to wear many many hats. One being tech savvy. This blog post we are going to look at a couple different technology tools I use to help make this little space run. So without further ado let’s get started:)

Adobe Photoshop:

First up is by far the most used tool in the world of technology for blogging is Adobe Photoshop! This is where I have actions to create better lighting and pull out colors that the camera is not able to capture. I bought a Photoshop package from my favorite DFW photographer, Angie Garcia, which you can find them all HERE for purchase.

I can honestly say this package was a major game changer for my pictures. My boyfriend takes all my pictures and sometimes the quality isn’t always the highest due to change in lighting or moving objects. It also cuts your editing time in half which is the longest part of the whole blogging process in my opinion.

Besides Angie’s photoshop package which she provides videos on how to use, I run to Youtube to help me with anything Photoshop. If I need to remove an object or I want to create a moving object, there are tons of videos on how to do things. Such a powerful piece of technology!

Adobe Bridge:

Up next is a fairly new piece of technology to me so I am not sure of everything it can do just yet but I have found Adobe Bridge to be really helpful! What I am using it for right now is after I dumb all my photos off my camera to my computer, I take Adobe Bridge and sort through them to begin to editing process on only the photos I want to put on the blog. (I usually select 10 pictures to go on the blog)

To get to “Camera Raw” which is where I add in Exposure, Contrast, Highlights, etc. I right click on the picture and then select “Open in Camera Raw”. After I am done changing the lighting I then select “Done” and then it takes the picture automatically into Photoshop to start using the action package I have from Angie.

Google Sheets:

Google Sheets is technology I use to stay organized and plan out all my blog content. The best part is it can be viewed wherever you are and it’s not tied to one device. I have 4 different computers I use so transferring files gets complicated but I use Google Sheets to keep everything in one easy, reachable location.

I set it up every month and it normally ends up changing some but it’s easier than trying to white out a calendar. I created dropdown’s for easy fill in’s and to keep everything easy to analyze later. The whole piece of technology is really user friendly and can be shared across people to help collaborate as well.

Google Analytics:

Out of all the technology tools I use this is probably the coolest! Maybe thats because I have a very analytical mind or because everything runs real time which is so awesome!!! Google Analytics lets you see all your demographics for your website along with when people are on your website and where they are coming in from or leaving your website. If your starting a blog or have one this is a must to have. Everyone will ask you for your insights and you will want to know them so you can know where to move your blog.

I highly recommend going through the Google Analytics Academy if you want to use this tool. It’s not hard but teaches you so much about reading your insights to adjust your business. I might do a full blog post over this!

I really hope this was really helpful for some of you:) I know it wasn’t fashion or beauty related but I thought I would be fun to share a little behind the scenes of this blog. If you have any questions about any of this or other technology let me know! There are so many tools out there which I have tried a lot but these are my everyday use.

These are all very much needed for any blogger! I usually use Lightroom for photo edits, but I’ve been playing with Photoshop actions more and liking how they work too.
