Winter Colorado Outfit Inspiration + Travel Guide!

Colorado is one of my favorite places to go during the holiday! The snow on the ground and the homes filled with lights puts me right in a Hallmark Christmas movie. A couple weeks back I went up to Steamboat, Colorado with a couple of friends for a short weekend. It was so nice to get away and the scenery was beautiful!

Today’s blog post is a round up of all the Colorado wintery looks I styled! I always find packing for the winter to be a bit of a challenge because of how bulky the clothes are. But if you pick out a few key pieces and then style them different ways, it should give you some options! My go to on key pieces are 1 pair of leggings, 1 pair of jeans, 2 sweaters, 1 coat, (sometimes) 1 dress, lounge sets, pajamas, and boots.

At the end of the post, I included a travel guide to Steamboat, Colorado!

STEAMBOAT, CO TRAVEL GUIDE

Where to stay:

  • Personally I like to stay on the mountain side! This area is called Steamboat Resort and is located about 10 minutes from downtown Steamboat. There are tons of activities to do on the mountain including skiing, eating, drinking, shopping and (pre-covid) concerts. Below are a few great options on where to stay!
  • Steamboat Grand is a more high end option but located right at the base of the ski mountain!
  • The Sheraton is another option for Ski In, Ski Out as it is located right in the Gondola Square!
  • Bear Claw are beautiful condominiums that are Ski In and Ski Out. They are located a little higher up the mountain.
  • There are tons of condo’s really close to the base as well and many of them are listed on the Steamboat Resort website or Airbnb.

Where to eat:

  • Slopeside Grill is a great place to sit outside, watch skiers come down the mountain and enjoy the ambiance! (Pre-covid) They had a big ice bar that they made to order drinks from. They have great pizza’s!
  • Truffle Pig is a little bit fancier but amazing food! It’s located in the Gondola Square and tends to be busy so make sure to make a reservation.
  • Salt & Lime is a great little southwestern restaurant in town! I love their tacos and queso. You have to try their margs as well:)
  • Creekside Cafe is one of my personal favorites for brunch! We ended up going here twice because it was so good! I love them omlets and bloody mary’s.
  • Carl’s Tavern is a great little bar to grab drinks while walking around. They do flights of whiskey!
  • Taco Cabo has some amazing tacos and it’s right on the river! You can sit outside by the river while enjoying some tacos!
  • E3 Chopshop is a little fancy restaurant in the town right on the river! The food is amazing and they have a great wine list!
  • Powder Day Donuts has some amazing donuts for in the morning! Great place to grab and go to hit the slopes early in the morning.
  • Off The Beaten Path Bookstore & Coffeehouse has boozed filled coffee;) You can even take it to-go!

Things to do:

  • Skiing is obviously my number one! I have been skiing since I was about 6 and it’s one of my favorite things to do as a family. We have been skiing Steamboat since I was 10!
  • Strawberry Park Hot Springs is an absolute winter wonderland! These hot springs are so beautiful and a great place to hang out for an afternoon. You will need a car that has 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive to get up to the hot springs. Currently they are only taking reservations online so BOOK EARLY. You can also go at night which is a whole other experience. You can’t see anything at night because they don’t have lights. The stars though on a clear night are on another level and something I personally have never seen before!
  • Sleigh Ride Dinner’s are so magical and romantic! I have yet to do one in Steamboat but I have heard they are amazing. You can book them through the Steamboat Resort website.
  • Tubing at Saddle Back Ranch is so much fun for the whole family! There is a shuttle that takes you from the Gondola Square to the tubing location so you don’t have to drive. Highly recommend going in the afternoon!
  • The Steamboat Grand Spa is a great option for those that want to skip a day of skiing to relax! They have some amazing spa packages that will help release tension and enjoy your trip.
