#WeddingWednesday Our Wedding Décor

I am so excited to finally be sharing our wedding décor! I wanted it to keep it simple and not too over the top when it came to the décor. The flowers we choose were so gorgeous that I really wanted them to speak for themselves without having too many other things. To be honest you can get carried away with tons of décor but it really eats away at your wedding budget. We spent a large portion on the flowers so I am glad they took center stage for our wedding décor!

Below I go through each area of our wedding and share what decisions we made for that room. My hope is this is helpful for any future brides to make décor decisions!

CEREMONY

For the ceremony, we went with very little décor as the flowers were a big enough statement and you really don’t spend more than 30 minutes in the ceremony room anyway! Our florist created these beautiful garden themed pieces to frame us up on stage. We didn’t have any thing else on the stage with us since we both had large wedding parties to fill the stage. Cost saving tip: I did want something on the chairs as we walked down the aisles though but with the number of rows we had it was going to be costly to put flowers on every row. We opted to put a small flower arrangement on the first 2 rows so when we were photographed on stage, it would appear that the flowers were on all the rows!

ENTRY WAY

This was one of my favorite spaces to decorate because it was the first thing that everyone would see walking in. I wanted to bring them into our love story right from the beginning since each person we invited played a special role in our relationship. On the antique buffet table, I placed a collage of different photos of us that people could browse through before our ceremony started. I placed a sign next to the photos to share what our wedding hashtag was for them to use when posting on social media!

As you walked towards the ceremony room, we had a guest table setup with a gorgeous antique mirror my mom found at an antique sale! I had the same lady who created my signs, do the calligraphy on the mirror. It was so dainty and such a show stopper before walking into the ceremony. On the guest table, we had our wedding guest book, our wedding program, an acrylic box for letters, my own personal ginger jars that I love, hand sanitizer and masks for those wishing to wear one. I really wanted to keep this space as clean and simple as possible, plus adding more flowers to the entryway stairs would have been costly.

RECEPTION

The reception room was also really fun to decorate! I wanted it to be a place people could have fun and liven up the party! For the head table, I wanted flowers across the front and candles mixed in. My colors for the wedding were white, greenery, blush and a pop of navy. This was showcased through the ginger jars and the navy candles on the head table. For the other tables, we went with a small floral arrangement in the middle and candles around it.

Since the guest tables were round, I wanted guests to be able to speak to each other across the table and not have their visual of the front of the obstructed with big floral arrangements. The short floral arrangements were perfect plus they were a little bit cheaper. As everyone walked into the reception, there was a sign with everyone’s seating arrangements. I used clear acrylic signs on the table to show the table numbers. Which was staged beautifully in front of the flowers so you got the flower arrangement as a backdrop.

While the cakes are entirely “decor” related, we used them as such! They were so beautiful and I didn’t want to hide them in a corner somewhere so we had them placed next to the tables so everyone could see them. Cost saving tip, We repurposed the flower arrangement from the ceremony to go next to the cake table! Since I loved the flowers so much I went with a simple cake (that tasted AMAZING btw) and had the florist arrange flowers in between each layer.

The balloon archway was kind of a last minute idea I had! Lushra was having a sale over the holidays for buy 2 get 1 free. I accidentally ended up ordering 6 DIY balloon kits. Two of them I used for my bridal shower, one of them for the getting ready room over the bed in the hotel and then 2 more to make this archway to enter into the reception area! I thought it was fun to having something here instead of just having the doorway.

An area we really cut back on was the photo booth. To be honest, I feel like the weddings I did go too with a photo booth, I took the picture and it ended up getting thrown away. I wanted to create something that everyone could use and have accessible on their phones! I grabbed a ring light from Amazon and DIYed a boxwood backdrop. Renting backdrops in Dallas was kind of pricey and there was the extra cost of delivery/pick up. So I looked into creating a DIY one. It was about half the cost and I got to use it for my bridal shower and wedding! Even if I never use it again I saved money on it and guests got the cutest pictures with them:)
