It’s Wednesday! That normally means my outfits for the week are getting more casual but are jeans okay for work? And if you do wear jeans, what are appropriate? When I post questions on Instagram Stories about causal work wear, I get a lot of mixed reviews. Some say “Yay this is all I wear to work.” and other say “I wish I could wear jeans.” So for today’s blog post, I wanted to share my opinion about jeans at work!
First question is, do I think you can wear jeans to work and the answer is absolutely! Even in some more formal environments jeans can be worn. They don’t need to be blue jeans but could potentially be black jeans instead.
Black jeans paired with a blouse and a blazer is a pretty professional look. Dark blue jeans are the more casual professional look. Light wash jeans are a very causal look and white jeans are somewhere in between.
Now for what is appropriate and what isn’t for jeans at work. Personally, I would stray away from a light wash denim. For some reason it doesn’t look professional at all. Do NOT wear ripped jeans with big holes in the knees. Most work environments this is a big no no. It is seen as very unprofessional and gives off the vibes that you are lazy.
My jeans are frayed a little at the bottom. This I don’t have a problem with. I probably should cut the strings a little bit more for a clean look but overall they are a dark denim with no holes. I really like these jeans with flats more than heels but you can see here that jeans can be dressed up with heels if need be!
My two favorite jean styles to go for are skinny jeans and straight cropped jeans! They both pair nicely with blouses, tanks and blazers. With skinny jeans I don’t wear heels or if I do, it is a short heel (no stilettos with skinny jeans)
What are your opinions on jeans at work? Is it too casual for your environment? Is this all you wear?
I work in radio which is a SUPER casual environment, so I wear jeans a lot to work as we don’t have a dress code! If I worked in a more formal environment, I’d probably just do them for Casual Friday and make them a little dressier 🙂 Yours always look so good!

I transitioned to a casual work environment last year so I wear jeans a lot to work. When I was in business casual environments, I kept jeans to Fridays.
