Save The Dates: Minted

I am so giddy over today’s blog post! Our Save The Dates has {FINALLY} been sent out!! Talk about a milestone in the wedding planning. I never thought I would get these things out because it seemed like such a daunting task. I was honestly so stressed about finding the perfect Save The Date and everything that goes into it. The picture, the lay out, the wording, and let’s not forget the actual addressing of all those letters! How much time was that all going to take?

As someone who works a 9 to 5, runs a blog, has a social life and takes care of a home, there is little time to sit down to plan these things out. I wish I had all day to do wedding planning, as I think it is so much fun, but I have to squeeze it in here and there. That’s why I really couldn’t face the idea of worrying about the layout, wording and then hand writing all of our guests addresses onto the back of the envelopes. Plus where does one even start with all of that?

Minted had been recommended numerous times by some of my followers on Instagram when I expressed my level of stress for getting everything together. (Always appreciate y’alls help on anything wedding!) After hearing such raving reviews, I came home from work one day and thought I was going to spend hours setting everything up. I sat down and within an hour had everything planned out on the Minted website. Honestly, I was over the moon that it was that easy and I had time to get other things done in my afternoon.

When you go onto the Minted website, they have Save The Dates in different formats and layouts to fit your taste. I picked one that I felt went with the landscape view from our engagement photos that I wanted on the front. Next I changed the names and adjusted the date to ours. The formatting and sizing was all kept the same but you can adjust if necessary. I wanted a place to add in some wording about our wedding website so I added a back with a small close up of us. This gave a much more personal feel to each Save The Date.

When you get to the end they ask you to upload your addresses (which at time I didn’t have). Even though I didn’t have all my addresses yet, I was still able to send my proofs off for review by a Minted Professional. It took them a day to review over the layout, font, formatting and then send the final proofs back to me via email. They told me if everything looked good, when I was ready with my addresses I could simply upload and check out.

My personal favorite from my experience with Minted was addressing the envelopes! It felt so good to simply upload an excel spreadsheet with all the addresses and have them auto populate onto the envelopes. They showed me what each address would look like on the envelope on their website so I could make sure the excel file pulled in correctly. Once I reviewed over everything, I checked out and got everything in the mail within a week!

Some helpful tips for Save The Dates:

  1. Collecting addresses was very simple, as I used Postable. I simply texted everyone a link, they filled it out and all the addresses were put into one excel file!
  2. A rule of thumb is to send out your Save The Dates about 10 months before your wedding. But seriously do not stress if it’s not exactly 10 months. I sent mine out 9 months before and everything was just fine.
  3. If you are planning on taking engagement pictures closer to your wedding date, you don’t have to have a picture on your Save The Dates. Minted has so many options for really cute wording and fonts as well.
  4. Send out what you like and try not to get too many opinions about the Save The Dates. We want them to be perfect but it is YOUR wedding so pick what you like and don’t worry about what everyone will think.

Minted made creating Save The Dates fun and saved the time as well! If you are getting married soon, I highly recommend creating your Save The Dates through Minted. You can even include postage as well so you don’t have to buy any additional stamps.
