I am jumping for joy that I am sharing our trip to Mackinac Island today!! I did not want to leave Mackinac Island at all or Michigan for that matter! The water was so clear and reminded me of the Caribbean water but without the sea salt smell. All day on the island I thought I was dreaming! Since it was a trip I will never forget, I thought it would be fun to run down memory lane and share the places on the Island we went/did so you can add it to your bucket list of places to go!!

For those that don’t know what Mackinac Island is or what on earth I am raving about well its this island in the middle of Lake Michigan that transports you back in time. The island has no cars on it and the only way to get around is walking, bikes or horse and buggy! The people that work on the island dress up in little butler outfits haha.

Morning: We got up early and headed to Mackinac City where we caught Sheplers Mackinac Island Ferry. I recommend getting there as early as you can. Once we got to the island, we just wanted to explore so we walked along the streets and headed to go see The Grand Hotel! You can’t go inside the hotel unless your staying there but it is a sight you have to see. They have an ice cream shop called Sadie’s Ice Cream Parlor that you should stop by!

Lunch: For lunch we went to the Pink Pony!! If you love pink then you will love this place:) I had major heart eyes the whole time we were eating there haha. We asked to sit outside so we had a view of the bay area with the crystal clear water and the boats. The food is really good but a little pricey and so are the drinks! The picture of the drink I took is called the Lilac Lemonade which is AMAZING!! Also they have a souvenir shop that I grabbed a shirt and pint glasses.

Afternoon: After our wonderful lunch, we rented bikes in the main street! If you are there when it is really really busy, I recommend walking to the end of the main street and renting from some from the hut vendors. I wish we had known about this because we would have saved so much time and gotten cuter bikes haha;) Anyway, there is a trail going around the island that is 8 miles! It took us about 1.5 hours to get around the whole thing. We didn’t stop much so if you take your time then it would probably be about 2 hours. If there is anything you do on the island this is it! You get to see so much and the water is unbelievable!!

Heading Home: Once we were done with our 8 miles, we returned the bikes and headed back on the ferry! I was exhausted at the end of everything so I almost fell asleep on the ferry haha. The ferry is great but you do get a little wet if you sit at the top plus it is chilly even on a sunny day so bring a cardigan!

If your in Michigan it is as place you have to see! The pictures don’t even do it justice because it’s absolutely stunning!! Hope this gave you a little inspiration for your bucket list of things to do:)

I am loving your blog! I live in Michigan and Mackinac Island is SUCH a treat! I have great memories of visiting when I was a kid as well as the most recent trip I took with my husband for our first anniversary. We stayed at the Island House. It was so fun walking and biking throughout the day and then having so much fun with all the wonderful people we met late at night enjoying the live music at some of the bars! It was a splurge staying for a couple of nights but the memories from that trip are in my heart forever and still make me smile! 🙂
