Home Office Reveal

I am so excited to {finally} be sharing my home office with you! Over the past couple weeks, I have been transforming my office space into a place that I can feel inspired and motivated. When we bought this house, I knew I wanted to decorate the home office a certain way but it kind of got pushed to the back burner with all the other home updates we wanted too. It wasn’t until a few weeks ago, when I constantly kept feeling uninspired or motivated to work, that I told Jeremy that I think we needed to revamp my office space.

I spent hours pouring through Pinterest trying to find the “perfect” home office, something feminine, and functional. Unfortunately, I feel like I never found exactly what I was looking for. So I decided to go to Canva and create my own space! I made multiple collages of different directions I could have gone with the style. Ultimately, I went with very light, feminine, modern timeless option (the collage below)!

INSPIRATION:

Besides coming up with the décor style, the biggest undertaking of the whole project for the home office was making the room feel more homey! The room is big and the white walls felt uninspiring and boring. When I was searching through Pinterest to find inspiration, I kept pinning rooms with picture frame moulding. I knew accent walls were starting to go out of style but wanted to do something fun in the room besides just keep it all white. We decided that adding picture frame moulding all the way around the home office and giving it a fresh coat of paint would do the trick! As soon as we added the moulding to all the walls, we instantly felt the room become a little bit smaller and more formal.

ADDING IN PICTURE FRAME MOULDING:

After deciding to do picture frame moulding on the walls in the home office, I did a ton of research on the different styles of moulding, the spacing between each section, and wall texture. I ended up going with this style from Home Depot, 3inches between each section and we went through and smoothed out all the walls.

Retexturing the walls was a bit of a nightmare to be honest. It took way longer than I was expecting and it was a major pain to fix any mistakes. To be honest you don’t have to retexture the wall to add picture frame moulding. I went with that option because a lot of the home designer blogs I read said you should or else you will be using a lot of caulking to hide the uneven texture.

I went with 3 inches between each paneling because it left me with the closest even numbers. I have a highlight saved on my Instagram on how I ended up doing all the math for the walls. It was pretty simple once I figured out I wanted 3 inches all the way around and I wanted the bottom box to be less than 36inches from the ground. 36inches is generally where chair railing goes on the wall. I didn’t want to add any chair railing to my design but wanted to find a good height for my bottom box. Which lead to the height of the top boxes.

The angled desk would mess with my equilibrium. The light from behind would also create a shadowed appearance for zoom calls. Looks nice but I would need to move that desk stat.

So beautiful!! What is the name of that desk? Even though it’s sold out, I want to keep my eyes peeled for the resale market. It’s exactly what I want!
